Hello. I’m Dave, a Canadian iOS and Mac developer living in Bradford, Ontario.
I studied computer sciences at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario and have spent 20+ years building systems, software, and management applications for various companies. When the iPhone was announced in 2007, I immediately saw its potential and began applying my experience to Cocoa development. In 2011, I decided to focus 100% of my development efforts on the iOS and Mac platforms through my own development studio, Cerebral Gardens. We develop in-house applications and provide development support to customers such as Dragon Forged Software and MartianCraft.
Since then, I have developed many applications for iPhone, iPad, and the Mac both independently, as a team member working with other developers. I like to focus on the security, performance, and usability of the app and the systems the app interfaces with, in order to identify potential problems early in the development cycle. I co-authored Swift for the Really Impatient and was a technical reviewer for iOS Components and Frameworks.
When I’m not developing, I like to travel and enjoy various physical pursuits including white water kayaking, scuba diving, or just walking my dogs. I’m a board game enthusiast, Apple fanatic, and dream about oceanfront living.
